A cool, pure and ripe nose offers up layered aromas of dark pinot fruit, red currant, earth and plenty of floral elements. The vibrant, detailed and mineral-inflected medium weight flavors possess a lovely mid-palate mouth feel that contrasts moderately with the mildly rustic finale that is both sneaky long and beautifully complex. This is a relatively refined Nuits 1er that is built-to-age yet not especially austere and thus should drink well after only 5 to 7 years of age.
