Meursault 2020
The 2020 pours a medium golden hue — deeper and warmer than younger vintages, reflecting both three years of bottle evolution and the richness of the vintage. The nose shows clear development: baked apple, poached pear, dried apricot, and quince paste, moving away from primary fruit into a more autumnal, settled expression.
Meursault’s hallmark hazelnut character is now fully expressed — toasted nut, almond, and subtle praline tones forming a rich, integrated core. Beneath this, the mineral base of chalk, wet stone, and oyster shell has softened into a more savoury, almost saline depth.
On the palate, the wine is broad, silky, and warmly textured, with ripe orchard fruit wrapped in honeyed, nutty complexity. Despite the vintage’s natural richness, a persistent line of limestone freshness maintains balance and energy.
The finish is long and gently evolved, echoing baked fruit, hazelnut, honey, and warm stone. Fully entering its drinking plateau, this is Meursault in a mature, golden phase.
