Châteauneuf du Pape Blanc Tradition 2023
The 2023 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc Tradition is Château de la Gardine's estate white, and a versatile, generous introduction to the appellation in white. It's a classic southern-Rhône blend built around Grenache Blanc, Clairette, Roussanne and Bourboulenc, giving a wine with both breadth and freshness. The nose is floral and fruity, with white flowers, orchard and stone fruit, a hint of citrus and a gentle mineral lift.
On the palate it's round and fresh at the same time, with good weight through the middle, ripe fruit and a clean, balanced finish. It sees far less new oak than the prestige Marie-Léoncie, which keeps it bright and food-friendly, and it's made to drink young while the fruit is at its most expressive.
An easy-drinking white Châteauneuf at a sensible price — a strong list wine and a good way to open a client onto the estate before trading them up to the Marie-Léoncie.
