Condrieu Blanc 2023

The 2023 pours a pale, shimmering gold with green highlights — unusually translucent for Condrieu, signalling a focus on purity over richness. The nose is explosive yet precise: white peach, apricot, nectarine, and yellow plum lifted by an intense floral surge of acacia, honeysuckle, jasmine, and orange blossom. Beneath this aromatic intensity lies a clear granite backbone — wet stone, flint, and a faint smoky mineral thread that brings tension and shape.

On the palate, the wine is strikingly different from conventional Condrieu: silky and fluid rather than oily or heavy, with ripe stone fruit carried by bright, unexpected acidity. The floral notes reappear as flavour, giving the mid-palate a perfumed, almost weightless elegance, while the granite core provides drive and definition.

The finish is long and clean, alternating between white peach, citrus blossom, and crushed stone, with a subtle apricot skin bitterness adding complexity. This is Viognier in a state of clarity rather than opulence — aromatic, energetic, and finely balanced. Drinking window: now through 2028.
